The Hydrologix® GRS, Grease Reduction System
How the Hydrologix® GRS Works In the Grease Interceptor or Grease Trap to Digest Fats, Oils, Grease (F.O.G.) | |
Resorts and large hotels have large capacity grease interceptors like the one shown below or they may have a smaller scale type called a grease trap. This is an in-ground collection tank for the fats, oils and grease wastewater(FOG) from their restaurant kitchens, and is where the Hydrologix® GRS does its job.
- Sleeping microbes & micronutrients are stored in innoculator 1 tank
- Microbes passed to the innoculator 2 “brewing” tank will become fully active/awake in 4 hours – ready to digest fats, oils and grease in the grease interceptor or grease trap
- Active microbes are injected into FOG towers where they cling to biofilm and begin to bioremediate the fats, oils and grease
- Air supply moves the fats, oils and grease through the biofilm, bringing food to the microbes & providing them with the oxygen needed to multiply rapidly in the grease trap / grease interceptor wastewater

For large capacity grease interceptors of 6000 gallons or more, the control cabinet is typically like the one shown below. This sophisticated telemetry enables remote monitoring by maintenance staff and even local water authorities if required.
For sites with smaller grease interceptors or grease traps, a simpler telemetry with smaller cabinet, typically 9" x 3' x 1' is all that is needed.
