Hydrologix's patented GRS is the only scientifically proven system that will economically recycle brown-grease, which is also commonly known as FOG (Fats, Oil and Grease), into usable BioFuel creating up to 40% BioFuel from FOG. Hydrologix has taken the unique approach of pre-treating FOG inside the grease interceptor/trap or lift-stations, representing an in-situ process.

GRS stabilizes the FOG for BioFuel production by arresting hydrolysis and thus preventing the BTU (energy content) rich triglycerides from breaking down into Free Fatty Acids (FFAs). A low FFA concentration as well as a low sulfur concentration is highly desirable for easy BioFuel conversion and/or for biogasification. Additionally, the same Hydrologix technology can be applied to brown-grease storage facilities and at processing plants to maintain low FFA levels by arresting hydrolysis.

The US produces more than 4-billion pounds of brown-grease, which when using the GRS provides an estimated 950–million gallon BioFuel yield opportunity.
